Discovering Pet Lore

It was there all along.

Whether through storytelling, rescue work, caregiving, art, grief, or technology, I kept returning to the same emotional truth: animals quietly become woven into the fabric of people’s lives.

They witness our growing-up years, accompany us through transition and loss, shape routines and memories, and often remain present during the moments that define us most deeply.

And yet, so much of that emotional world often goes undocumented.

Pet Lore emerged from the desire to preserve those stories more intentionally:
not simply as pet profiles or utility tools, but as evolving emotional archives centered around companionship, memory, identity, and the bonds people build with the animals who move through life beside them.

What began as a storytelling idea gradually evolved into lore cards, onboarding systems, visual identity design, databases, and the development of Murphy — the storybook-inspired mascot who became part of the app’s emotional and creative world.

But beneath all of the systems and technology, the heart of Pet Lore remained remarkably simple:
a desire to honor the relationships people build with the animals who quietly shape their lives.

In many ways, creating Pet Lore has felt less like inventing something entirely new and more like discovering that the story had quietly been there all along.

I hope you enjoy this world I’ve created to honor our pets’ journeys, the lives they quietly witness beside us, and the shared milestones, memories, and moments that become part of our stories too.
