About Pet Lore

 

What is Pet Lore?

Pet Lore is a storytelling platform preserving the memories, rituals, grief, and emotional histories we build with animals. The project includes the Pet Lore app, currently in development; The Good Companion, a journal for essays, art, research, field notes, and guided storytelling; and the Pet Lore Guild, a community for contributors, readers, beta testers, and animal-storytellers.

 

Is Pet Lore an app, a journal, or a community?

Pet Lore is an ecosystem.The app is being built to help people preserve pet memories, milestones, service and working animal stories, and memorial reflections. The Good Companion publishes thoughtful nonfiction and visual work about animals and the people who love, care for, work beside, remember, and learn from them. The Pet Lore Guild will bring together contributors, readers, beta testers, editors, advisors, and supporters.

 

Who is Pet Lore for?

Pet Lore is for people who believe animals are part of our personal histories.That includes pet lovers, families, writers, artists, service-animal handlers, caregivers, trainers, researchers, rescue and foster communities, grieving pet owners, and anyone interested in the human-animal bond.

 

Is Pet Lore only for dogs and cats?

No. Pet Lore welcomes stories about many kinds of animals, including companion animals, service animals, therapy animals, working animals, rescue animals, farm animals, and animals remembered after death.

 

Is the Pet Lore app available yet?

The full Pet Lore app is currently in development. You can follow along through Pet Lore updates, join the waitlist when available, and explore The Good Companion journal and Pet Lore Guild as those parts of the project grow.
