The Pet Lore Philosophy
Every bond has a story.
Pet Lore is designed to gently awaken familiar memories and relatable experiences, encouraging a curiosity- and sentimentality-driven exploration of identity through the lens of a life shared with animals.
As a natural extension of that reflection, users begin examining memories, milestones, and everyday moments with their own pets—and gain the language to translate those experiences into something I’ve come to think of as a shared lore.
On one hand, each person’s lore is deeply unique to their lived experiences and reflective of an inner spirit that holds space for some of the most profound experiences a human being can bear.
But on the other hand, the core elements of that journey—the pivotal moments that evolve the bond between humans and animals over time, the routines, the chaos, the quiet companionship, and ultimately a lifetime of togetherness—are remarkably universal. This is our lore.

A life with animals is built from small moments: a favorite spot by the window, long drives with fur on every seat, quiet companionship during seasons nobody else fully saw.
Over time, those moments become landmarks. Childhood pets we still remember decades later. Companions who followed us into adulthood. Rescue stories, daily rituals, new homes, growing families, hard seasons, and ordinary days that became unforgettable.
Pet Lore was designed to preserve the emotional history of those bonds across pets, people, and time — because the animals we love are not just part of one chapter. They are woven through every season of our lives.

Pet Lore’s commitment to accessible storytelling is grounded in the founder’s 20 years of editorial leadership in public affairs, ethical storytelling, and strategic communications. Over the course of her career, she has helped train more than 700 “non-writers” — including technical experts, community leaders, advocates, and program staff — to shape their knowledge and lived experience into clear, purposeful writing.
That same belief guides Pet Lore: people do not need to be professional authors to have meaningful stories. With the right prompts, structure, and editorial support, anyone can learn to recognize the emotional weight of their own experiences and share them with care.
