Critical Vet Visits

The moments when survival, care, and love became urgent

Some pet lore begins in crisis: the first rescue intake, the emergency vet visit, the diagnosis, or the night you were not sure they would survive. These photos document what they endured, what care they needed, and the first signs of hope — especially for rescues facing urgent issues like tick-borne illness, leptospirosis, injuries, TVT cancer, heartworm, pyometra, seizures, surgery, or emergency confinement.

Pet Lore  Memory Prompts

A Moment:

Save a specific medical or rescue-care memory: the first intake exam, an emergency visit, a diagnosis, a treatment milestone, a difficult night, the first time they ate again, the first stable test result, or the moment you realized they might make it.

A Milestone:

Connect the visit to your own life: becoming a rescuer, learning emergency care, facing fear, making a hard financial or ethical decision, coordinating help, grieving another animal, or discovering how deeply responsible you felt for this pet’s survival.

A Pattern:

Track patterns across pets and rescues: common illnesses in your area, recurring intake conditions, the kinds of emergency care different animals needed, what recovery looked like over time, and how each pet’s survival story shaped your rescue work.
